Pilot Reef

A sandy-bottomed reef where leopard sharks rest through the middle of the day.

12–20metres

Coral outcrops scattered across an open sand bottom, which is precisely the habitat leopard sharks like to settle on. Sightings are seasonal and never guaranteed, but the reef itself holds enough life to stand on its own if the sharks are elsewhere.
