Questions before you book

Do I need to know how to swim?
Basic swimming comfort is required. There is no prerequisite to sign up: the 200 m swim and 10 minute float are done during the course.
How long does Open Water take?
3–4 days: knowledge sections and 5 confined-water dives, then 4 open water training dives, the final exam and certification. On Basic every dive is from the shore; Standard and Premium have 2 shore and 2 boat dives. You can do the knowledge part on PADI eLearning before you arrive.
I've already done Discover Scuba. Does it count?
Yes. The confined-water skills from Discover Scuba Diving are credited toward the Open Water Diver course if you continue within 12 months.
What's the difference between Discover Scuba and Open Water certification?
Discover Scuba is a single guided experience with no certification — good for trying it out. Open Water is a multi-day course that certifies you to dive anywhere in the world, independently, for life.
Is the breathing air actually safe?
We test and filter our air regularly rather than assuming a tank is fine because it's full. This is one of the things we're most particular about — ask us about it on the day if you'd like specifics.
What's the water temperature like?
Havelock's water sits around 28–30 °C year-round, so a standard 3 mm wetsuit (which we provide) is comfortable for most divers.
Is there a minimum age?
Yes, 10 years for both Discover Scuba Diving and the Open Water Diver course.
How far in advance should I book?
During peak season (October to May), booking a few days ahead helps guarantee your preferred time slot. Message us on WhatsApp and we'll check same-day availability too.
